Having a baby makes you busy! But the three of us have a great time together every day, and I think I’ve got a bit used to it. I promise I’ll be writing more often.

Today she became two months old and she was very happy!
I’m going back to my regular themes and the next post won’t be about Marina, but don’t think you’ll get rid of her pictures so easily. And by the way, I’ve been updating from Twitter this other blog a lot: pepinismo instantáneo. Subscribe to the RSS!

Ya ha nacido Marina

Marina

Our daughter Marina was born on the 23rd June, 2011, and we’ve since been very happy and busy.

Marina

Starting the second day they put her in an incubator for two days because they thought she might have an infection. But she’s alright, even when she looks like this in front of dad.

Marina

Her toes are long just like dad’s. And that thing written on her leg is mom’s name, in case she gets lost.

On her fifth day, I wasn’t able to beat her at arm wrestling anymore.

On Tuesday mom was discharged from the hospital, but we are visiting Marina every day.

Marina

She doesn’t know many tricks yet, but crying is one of her favorite ones. She’ll make a great metalhead.

Marina

She prefers mom’s breast, but she doesn’t have any problem with baby bottles either.

Pan de arándanos y nueces

Today I’ translating for you a post from my friend Yuko’s blog Omo ni Pan ga Suki («I mainly like bread»). She posts lots of food and baby pictures, so I thought if you like pepinismo you might like this too.

I finally got around to bake the cranberry, raisins and walnuts buns I prepared the other night.

Taken with permission from Omopan

These are small buns slowly baked with little yeast. For the dough I used 225 grams Haru yo Koi flour, and 25 grams integral flour. Haru yo Koi is delicious!
Then I mixed in 20 grams each cranberries and raisins, and 15 grams walnuts.
I cut them slightly and put some cinnamon sugar and butter there. The cut ended up spreading beautifully!
Shio was very excited sitting in front of the freshly baked buns.

¡No se toca!

No touching!

Lately, she’ll try to reach anything she finds interesting. If you tell her she can’t touch that, sometimes she’ll complain by crying… She’s getting better at expressing her feelings.

Mi sobrina nueva — 姪っ子誕生 — my new niece

¡Hola! Soy Ai. ¡Cuanto tiempo!
Me alegré mucho y mi hermano estaba contentísimo. Nunca he visto y escuchado a mi hermano tan contento, y expresando sus sentimientos.

Hi! It’s me, Ai. It has been a long time since I wrote last time.
There was great big news about one week ago.
My sister-in-law gave birth to a new baby and it means I have one more niece! 🙂
I was so happy when I heard about it and it was the first time I saw that my brother expressed his happy feelings so directly. I wish I could go to see her now but they live a little bit far away so I will wait a few months more.
That’s all. I just wanted to inform everybody of it!

El buzón para bebés — 赤ちゃんポスト — Japan’s baby drop box

Everybody has heard about the «baby drop box» lately. Kumamoto’s Jikei Byouin Hospital opened last week a facility which provides a place to give a newborn baby for adoption anonymously. This is supposed to help the baby from being abandoned if parents are in a condition that can’t be helped, and can’t take care of their child.

If a baby is left in the «drop box» the Hospital will take care of her, and Kumamoto’s mayor will give her a name. Parents can still recall her, but they will have to reveal their identity.

It’s not the world’s first «baby drop box«, not even Japan’s first one, but it’s been quite a hot topic for weeks. It looks like everybody agrees that it’s better for a baby to be left in a «baby drop box» than in a locker or even in the trash, but many people point that because of this facility we might see a raise in this kind of cases. Kumamoto’s Jikei Byouin Hospital replied that saving lives goes first.

The way they refer to the «baby drop box» is controversial as well, but Kumamoto’s Jikei Byouin Hospital avoids this calling theirs the «Stork’s Cradle«.

I’m sorry but it’s time for bad news. Within 3 hours since first opening the «Stork’s Cradle«, a 3 or 4 years old boy was abandoned. The child can speak and knows his or her parents. I guess they will get caught soon.
