It’s not the first year that Nintendo distributes for free works from their seminar students. Thank you Mr Nintendo.

The game itself is quite fun and consists in blowing at the microphone to shoot your stars at rainy clouds. If you do good you’ll get more stars –if you do bad you’ll lose them.

When I beat the game I was missing a few stars for the maximum score, but the Sound Test was unlocked anyway. Has anybody got everything? Does something nice happen?

It’s a shame that this is only on DS Stations and not the DSi Shop. This way the game gets deleted when you shut your DS down. Here’s a video in which you can see how the game is played.

Yesterday I got this postcard with the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) results. Some of you already know because I posted immediatly to Twitter (thank you!). I won’t ever pass this test again, but feel free to follow me on Twitter.

I passed level 1, the highest level! Got almost 75% but that’s not very good. In compensation for being an «A B C D test», minimum for level 1 is 70%, or 60% for lower levels. My better results are on listening, reading and grammar. The ones I need (and use) most for living and working. I’m satisfied with my current Japanese and my learning speed and I have never doubted of my skills, but as I didn’t study «their way» I didn’t know if my skills would be detected or appreciated by this test. But I’m very happy to have passed! I’ll still be learning while I’m alive.

Got this book with 3 years worth of past tests with answers, thinking that I would use it this year too. But I only used it for a while the night before the test. I’m giving it to a friend taking the test this year.

Japanese Language Proficiency Test

Yesterday Marcos reminded me of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (Noken), and since the application period is finishing tomorrow in Japan I was in time to apply. I’m taking level 1 (hardest) because I got level 2 some 4 years ago. I don’t know if I will pass, but I know for sure I’ll study a little and learn a lot.

It’s not critical, but I remembered to change the «行» at the end of the address on the envelope to «御中». Would the recipient have been a person instead of an organization, I’d have used «様». Both «御中» and «様» are respectful treatments, and you shouldn’t use them on your own name when writing your address for someone. At those times you write «行» instead, as they have done for me this time. But when you send a letter to someone, it’s just polite to use «御中» or «様» after their name, depending of them being an organization or a person, and never leave the «行» as is.

Mi Game Boy estuvo en el Yamakasa 2008

On the last day of Yamakasa I filled 7 Game Boy Cameras, what means I took 210 pictures. Here you can see the best animations that turned out, but if you didn’t read my previous post about Yamakasa I suggest you start from there.

I was thinking there was no means to go but by bicycle, however it takes more than 30 minutes from here so I searched the net the same night, and found there was a special service train at about 4 am.

These Game Boy animations don’t transmit color and sound like the movie I posted before, but for their size I think they are loaded with info. And loaded with Fukuokan behinds, of course. They are so typical at this festival.

2008 Hakata Gion Yamakasa matsuri festival Fukuoka

Hakata Gion Yamakasa is one of the two big festivals of Fukuoka, along with Dontaku. It consists on men carrying offerings on platforms. The festival started a week ago, but the climax closing event was early this morning.

One thing you can enjoy at this festival is seeing every kind of bottom you can imagine. Children bottoms, executive bottoms, old man bottoms… Whatever except for women bottoms. But in Japan they are more puritan than in Spain about men showing their nipples or sexual organs. I think it’s even illegal in public, what would be very particular since our body is the most natural thing we have. By the way men were going top-less to Yamakasa until 1898.

This festival is organized by a Shinto shrine at Gion called Kushida Jinja. You can walk there from Tenjin or Hakata Station but it will take a while. At 4 am, the shrine was filled with people and yatai (food stalls).

At the shrine I met this small festival-goer. He wasn’t the smallest guy I saw but he’s the smallest I saw that could actually walk. It was his first Yamakasa. Same for me but I was only watching while he was showing his bottom like a good Fukuoka man. Cool! Cute! (I took no pictures of his behind so that I’m not charged with child porn.)
