According to the sign, it’s not the best but the second best restaurant on Earth.
Entre eso y los colores, parece que les gusta llamar la atención. ¡Además, el cartel de “ramen” (ラーメン) está cabeza abajo!
ド派手な色もそれも、目立ちたいってことだろうな。後、「ラーメン」という看板は逆さまだぜ！
That and the colors, looks like they want to catch your eye. Also, the “ramen” (ラーメン) sign is upside down!

Ascensor en inglés es “elevator”. Y el váter clásico no ponía por donde estaba.
エレベーターは英語で「Elevator」と書く。それに「vater」というのはスペイン語で「トイレ」のこと。
“Vater” means toilet in Spanish.

Hoy vamos a aprender cómo se dice en japonés “abierto” y “cerrado“, tal y como está escrito en los carteles de la mayoría de los restaurantes de Japón.
今日は「商い中」と「準備中」という日本語を本当の看板を使って外国人の皆さんに教えようと思った。
Today we’re learning Japanese for “open” and “closed“, the way it’s written on the signs of most restaurants in Japan.
Abierto — 商い中 (あきないちゅう, akinai-chuu) — Open.
Cerrado — 準備中 (じゅんびちゅう, jumbi-chuu) — Closed.
Lo divertido es que tienen el cartel puesto de lado, de manera que si vienes desde la izquierda pone que el restaurante está “abierto”, pero si vienes desde la derecha pone que está “cerrado”. Y una última curiosidad: este es el restaurante de Dazaifu donde comí con Carlos M, Flapy y Óscar hace poco más de un año.
面白いのは看板が横になっているので、左から来る人には「商い中」と見えるが、右から来る人には「準備中」と見えるということ。ちなみにこのお店ではほぼ1年前Carlos MとFlapyとÓscarと一緒に食べた太宰府のお店だった。
The funny part is the sign is sideways, so people coming from the left will read “open” but people coming from the right will read “closed”. And one more thing, this is the restaurant in Dazaifu where I had lunch with
Carlos M, Flapy and Óscar about a year ago.

Cerca de las escuelas de Japón, se puede ver en algunos cruces a estos niños de broma que piden precaución al conductor. A mí me parece que algún conductor por la noche se puede haber llevado un buen susto, al iluminar de repente sus faros lo que parece ser un niño corriendo.
日本の学校の周りに、たまにこういう子供型注意標識を見かける。夜、車のライトで照らしたらびっくりするだろうけど。
You can often see these child-shaped caution signs near schools in Japan. I can picture lighting them up in the middle of the night can be quite breathtaking.

Free, hermosa palabra inglesa que significa tanto “libre” como “gratis”. El caso es que como este espacio está entre rejas supongo que con free más que a “libre” se deben de referir a “gratis”.
「フリー」という美しい英語には「自由」と「無料」二つの意味がある。ここは閉まってるから「自由」じゃなくて「無料」という意味だろう？
Free space, but free as in freedom or free as in free beer? This place is closed, so it must be free as in free beer rather than as in freedom.
Pero parece que tampoco se refieren a “gratis” porque debajo de “free space” en letras japonesas pone “de pago” en perfecto japonés.
やっぱり違った。「有料」だった。じゃあフリースペースはどこだっけ？
But! on the second line it says “payment required”. So where’s the free space?
Al final resulta que es un aparcamiento de bicicletas. Que me pongan con su representante de mercadotecnia, porque tengo un plan para dominar el mundo.
本当は駐輪場だった。マーケティング担当を紹介して下さい、世界を支配する企画があるから。
