Este restaurante es “la polla”

Y yo soy un caballero, pero eso no quita que pueda ser bastante gañán cuando tengo la oportunidad. En esta ocasión, mientras cenaba en un restaurante en español hablando en español durante la cena, divisé este otro restaurante desde la ventana.

紳士でありながら、チャンスがあると下品になる。今回はスペイン料理のお店で食べていたら、窓からこの下のレストランが見えてきた。

I’m a gentleman, but I love being dirty whenever I have a good chance. This time I was having a Spanish dinner and speaking Spanish, when I saw through the window the restaurant across the street.

Lo primero que leí fue Polla, pero para mi desesperanza no se trataba de un gazapo ni de una casualidad, sino que era una simple ilusión óptica.

Polla（ポヤ）というのはスペイン語で、女にはなくて男にはある者だ。上品でない言葉だから注意せよ。残念ながら、よく見たら書いてあったのは違う言葉だった。

First I read Polla, what in Spanish means something that men have and women don’t (and it’s not quite a pretty word, so take care when you use it). But I was very sorry to find out it was an optic illusion!

Este restaurante se llama Cipolla, que significa cebolla en italiano. Ya sé que es una chorrada, pero en Japón no tengo tanta gente a la que contarle mis chorradas en español, así que aguantadme un poco. Por cierto, esa noche cenamos muy bien (aunque no fue en el Cipolla).

イタリア語で「タマネギ」の意味を表す「Cipolla」というお店だった。ちょっとがっかり。ということでこういう話はあまり意味がないけど、周りにスペイン語で話す人が少ないからブログにまで書いてしまう。ちなみにCipollaじゃなくてあの夜食べたお店は美味しかった。

This restaurant is called Cipolla, which is Italian for onion. I know this is silly but here in Japan I don’t have many people to talk about my dirty findings so cope a bit with me. By the way we had a great dinner that night, and it wasn’t at Cipolla.

Tuki no Usagi — 月の兎

A 5 minutos en bici desde mi trabajo, hay una zona con bastantes sitios para comer. Hoy os voy a presentar uno de mis favoritos: Tuki no Usagi. De noche es un izakaya (para comer y beber) pero al medio día tienen un menú muy bueno por 650 yenes (unos 4 euros).

会社の周辺には飯屋があまりないけど、チャリで５分走ったらいっぱいある。今日はお気に入りの定食屋さんをご紹介しよう：月の兎。夜は居酒屋だけど、お昼は650円でかなりいい定食が出る。

5 minutes by bicycle from work, there’s a street with lots of places to have lunch. Today I’m introducing one of my favorite: Tuki no Usagi. In the evening it’s an izakaya where you can eat and drink with friends, but in the afternoon they serve vert good lunchs for 650 yen.

Cada día se puede elegir el plato principal entre tres opciones, y ponen una guarnición muy variada. El inevitable arroz se puede pedir blanco, o también zakkokumai (con varios cereales mezclados), que está muy bueno y también es mejor para la salud. ¡Y al final incluso te ponen un pequeño postre y un café! Esto es rarísimo en un menú japonés.

日替わりのメインは、毎日３つから選ぶことが出来るし、漬け物、みそ汁など色々出るし、ご飯は体によさそうな雑穀米か白米だし、贅沢な定食と感じられる。おまけに、最後はミニデザートとコーヒーも出る！これはスペインで当たり前だけど、日本の定食屋さんでは見たことなかった。

Every day, you can choose your main dish from three options, but lots of other stuff will come with it. The mandatory rice can be white or zakkokumai (with mixed grains), which is very good for health. And they will even serve a small dessert and coffee when you’re done! This is more than usual in Spain, but this is the only place I’ve seen this in Japan.

Restaurante español / スペイン料理のお店 / Spanish restaurant

El otro día fuimos a cenar a un restaurante español en Fukuoka. La comida estaba buena, y se notaba que tenía el sabor más suave para hacerla más agradable al paladar japonés, aunque a mí me gusta un poco más salado.

La paella que pedimos tenía una buena cantidad de arroz para su diámetro (menos de un centímetro), pero también tenía doce veces más otras cosas (gambas, pescado, mejillones…) que las que creo yo que necesita un buen arroz. Poque lo que tiene que estar bueno en la paella es el arroz.

先日、福岡でスペイン料理のお店に行ってきました。料理の味は日本人の口に合うように薄めになっていました。美味しかったけど、僕はもうちょっと塩辛い方がいい。

パエリヤは、フライパンの大きさに比べてご飯の量がちょうどよかった（深さ：1センチ以下）と思う。しかし、具（エビ、ムール貝、魚など）は自分の「ちょうどいい」と思う量より12倍ぐらい多かった。地元のパエリヤで一番美味しいのはご飯です。

The other day we went for supper to a Spanish restaurant in Fukuoka. Food was good, and the general flavor was a bit dimmed out in order to fit the delicate Japanese taste. I like it a bit saltier, anyway.

The paella we had had the correct amount of rice for the pan’s size (less than 1 cm deep), but I felt it also had a (12 times) too big amount of the other stuff, namely shrimp, fish and mussels. In a good paella, I think the yummy must be mostly at the rice.

Lo que me pareció más curioso de la cena fue el agua mineral. Normalmente, si pides agua en un restaurante Japón te la ponen del grifo (filtrada o algo) y es gratis. Pero en este aspecto el restaurante al que fuimos era más español, y nos sacaron unas botellas de agua mineral que obviamente fueron a parar a la cuenta.

一番驚いたのは、ミネラルウォーター。お水でいいと言ったら、スペインみたいにミネラルウォーターが出て来た。

Most surprising was the mineral water. You can get (filtered) water for free in most Japanese restaurants, but this one pulled a Spanish joke on us and charged for mineral water.

Si os fijáis en las etiquetas (había dos tipos) se trata de agua importada desde España. Desde un pueblo de Girona, para más señas. Y en las etiquetas estaba casi todo en japonés, excepto algunas frases en catalán. Me gustó mucho leer algo en catalán encontrado por casualidad en Japón, porque normalmente no tengo la oportunidad de usar este idioma.

ラベルを見ると（2種ありました）、スペインのピレネー山脈から輸入された水でした。ラベルはほとんど日本語になっていたけど、カタルーニャ語のままで残っていた文章もありました。カタルーニャ語というのはスペインの一部でしゃべられる言語で、スペイン語の方言ではなく、別の言語です。

But I loved the mineral water bottles. It was water imported from the Spanish Pyrenees, but text in the label was mostly written in Japanese. There was some text left in Catalan language, but no Spanish.
