Lo-bit Playground v.5.0 – the aftermath

I still hadn’t told you all about what happened after LBP v.5.0.

Tokyo Game Show (a video games fair) was happening that day, and some people somehow related to LBP were playing live at TGS, namely Hally (VORC) and YMCK, plus other people who were demonstrating how hard the new 1chipMSX rocks.

I will mostly ommit the fact that, when Hally started playing the speakers blew up and he had to stop (at least he was the last one performing), and I’ll go on to what happened after that. Hally did found the time to come, see and listen to our event, and we really appreciated that because we know his schedule was very tight that weekend. And YMCK went to a private party they had organized to celebrate some birthdays that had been in September (i.e. YMCK’s singer Midori’s birthday).

Back to the end of LBP v.5.0, the Tsuji-techno faction dissolved, and we (pepino) went to that party. When we got there, they were playing YMCK songs with ‘real’ instruments, with Yokemura (YMCK) on keyboard, Nakamura (YMCK) on wood bass, Kplecraft on sax, and a foreign guy I didn’t recognize at the drums. It was quite smooth and we were very surprised. As pepino’s songs are made thinking rock, YMCK’s songs are made thinking jazz, and they showed us that night how well thought of they are. After that, there was a dj session from Coova (who had been playing with her Game Boys earlier at the Playground), a Saitone live set (quite different to the one he did earlier at LBP) and, later, a live performance by Midori which, unfortunately, we were unable to see because our physical state was awful, and we had to leave and look for a hotel to stay.

Lo que pasó después de Lo-bit Playground v.5.0

Os debía el final de la crónica de lo que pasó en Tokio.

Ese día había habido Tokyo Game Show, una feria de videojuegos, y algunas personas en cierto modo relacionadas con Lo-bit Playground dieron conciertos en el TGS esa tarde, poniendo nombres fueron Hally (VORC) y YMCK, más otros que se dedicaron a demostrar la grandeza del 1chipMSX.

Pues bien, después de contar de pasada el minisuceso de que cuando Hally empezó a tocar le explotaron los altavoces y tuvo que parar (por suerte era el último en tocar), os voy a hablar de los eventos posteriores. Hally tuvo tiempo de venir a vernos, cosa que le agradecemos mucho porque sabemos que su agenda estaba bastante apretada ese fin de semana, y YMCK fueron a una fiesta privada en Shibuya, en la que se celebraban varios cumpleaños que fueron en septiembre como, por ejemplo el de Midori, la cantante de YMCK.

Volviendo al final de Lo-bit Playground v.5.0, la facción Tsuji-Techno se disolvió y los de pepino fuimos a la fiestecita. Cuando llegamos estaban tocando canciones de YMCK con instrumentos de verdad, con Yokemura (YMCK) al teclado, Nakamura (YMCK) al contrabajo, Kplecraft al saxo, y un extranjero que no reconocí, a la batería. Fue bastante fino porque nos sorprendió mucho. Al igual que las canciones de pepino están hechas pensando en rock, las canciones de YMCK están hechas pensando en jazz, y esa noche demostraron que, de hecho, bien pensadas. A esto siguieron una sesión dj de Coova (que había actuado con game boys en el mismo evento que nosotros, unas horas antes), un directo de Saitone bastante diferente del que nos ofreció horas antes en LBP, y bastante más tarde un directo de Midori, al que no pudimos asistir porque nuestro lamentable estado físico nos obligó a pirarnos y buscar hotel.

東京遠征

ペピーノは、先週末辻テクノのみんなと東京遠征に行って参りました。

東京の人たちと一緒にライブ。どうなることかと、、、あまり心配はしていなかったのですが、
予想以上に楽しくって楽しくって楽しかったです。：）

portalenzとpepinoは、金曜日から東京入り。
飛行機の中では、3人メガネっ子が並んで座り、妙にテンションが上がってきてたみたい。
（いつものごとく私は即行爆睡でしたが・・・）
羽田に到着したら、今回のイベントの企画者quarta330君がお迎えに来てくれました。
腰の低いかわいい人でした。

そしてライブ当日、リハーサルまでの時間は、（やっぱり?!）秋葉原で過ごし、
そこへkurakuさんも合流。若干portalenzの片方が凹むことがありつつも、
いざイベント会場へ♪
ここで東京陣営と初の顔合わせ。
皆さん、感じの良い人たちでこんな（?!）福岡陣営も温かく迎えてくれました。
いやそれにしても土地柄というのでしょうか、地域性というのでしょうか、
東京組と福岡組（辻テクノ組といった方が正解ですな）では、
準備の仕方から、話題から、ライブへ向けての考え方まで全て違うもんですね～
面白かったです。：）

そしていよいよライブのはじまり～
aleのスペイン人の友達やら私の友達も来てくれて、ペピーノもテンションが上がってきました！
ていうより、辻テクノ組のテンションが・・・いつものように酔っ払い、暴れている。笑
最近ではそれが微笑ましく見えてきた私は大丈夫でしょうか・・・笑
kurakuさんもいつものように段取りや何やらも全く関係なく、
1人突き進む。いやいやみんなもついて行く。
それでこそkurakuさん!男だな～!
ここではあえて辻テクノメンバーだけについてコメントを述べさせて頂きます。

ということで次は、いよいよpepinoです♪
aleが教えたせいで、たまに変なスペイン語が飛び交う中スタンバイ。
すでにとってもいい感じの空気になっていたのであまり緊張せずにすんなりはじめられました。
1曲目が終わってすでに息が苦しい。みんなの熱気と自分の興奮のせいか、空気が薄い・・・
なんと嬉しいことでしょう♪
歌いながらもみんなの顔が結構見える。近い。そして笑ってくれてる。
嬉しいなぁ～楽しいなぁ～
一緒に振り付けまでしてくれて、とっても楽しい時間を過ごす事ができました☆

そして最後にportalenz♪
やってくれるとは思ってましたが、思う存分やってくれました。
いやいやどんなに酔っ払っていても、民度が低くても、あなたたちはかっこよかったよ。
何に対してか分からないけど、”この人たちはいけるっ”と意味のない確信を覚えたのでした。
私もportalenzの音楽に酔いしれ、踊りました。楽しかった。

わざわざ見に来てくれた皆さん、pepino&辻テクノメンバーのお友達たち、
本当にどうもありがとうございました。
終わった後も何人か話しかけてきてくれました。
”楽しかった”って笑って言ってくれました。何よりもpepinoが楽しんでおります。
これまた感謝です。

そして最後になってしまいましたが、このイベントに参加させてくれた、
Lo-bit Playgroundの皆さん、とってもありがとうございました。

Last Saturday, we arrived at the club at around 4 pm and, after introducing ourselves to the Tokyo crew, plugging our machinery and testing sound, tsuji-techno members went out to drink, to celebrate the different ways of thinking the two factions have about music, and how this would probably make the event much more complete and balanced than any regular show we can have in Tokyo or Fukuoka. Back to the the report, our cheaper drinkers fell on the (empty) dancefloor until the event started, when it was one of them (kuraku) who had to play.

kuraku of course marked Tokyo as his territory, chipping with energy and violence, shouting with echo and reverb, and climbing up the desks with either his feet or his hands.

xinon, from 8bitpeoples, pleased us with his crazy game boy dj skillz.

quarta330 oiled the audience’s ears for us, with his chippy dub.

We pepino did 5 songs, 4 of them original (only one cover), in the most rocking and rolling live we’ve ever done. We did far less mistakes as usually, thanks to the great mood to which our friends from Spain and Tokyo added much love. We had a terrific time, seriously.

coova showed us what nanoloop is worth in her hands.

portalenz (maru and USK), treated us with their best show up to date, with USK himself almost recovered from his usual pre-show intoxication. All tracks were memorable, and the floor was literally on fire. maru used his popular circuit-bent toys, and USK played synth with a pc keyboard connected to a Game Boy. I guess many of the moments we felt best that night were during portalenz’s show.

saitone, a chiptune veteran who even has composed trackss for Konami’s Pop’n Music 13, gave us a lesson about Tokyo’s chiptunes, ending with a quite danceable tune.

We were greeting people and swapping demo-cds for a while before packing our stuff and going to the following event. Where did we go? I’ll tell you next time. For now, here is the podcast for all shows tsuji-techno members did that night. OK, I forgot to record our first track, but kuraku and portalenz are quite complete.

crónica y podcast de Lo-bit Playground v.5.0

El sábado llegamos al sitio a eso de las cuatro de la tarde y, tras las presentaciones de rigor con la gente del lugar, la enchufación los cacharros y la prueba de sonido, los miembros de tsuji-techno nos dispusimos a beber para celebrar la inminente victoria. Victoria que había dentro de nuestras cabezas, debida probablemente a las diferentes formas de pensar en cuanto a la música en directo. Creo que esto hizo el evento más completo que los que podemos tener con solo miembros de Fukuoka o de Tokio. Y, a lo que íbamos, los más baratos de los nuestros cayeron ciegos en la pista de baile (vacía) hasta el inicio del evento, que curiosamente estaba a cargo de uno de ellos, kuraku.

kuraku sin duda dejó su marca en Tokio, chipeando con violencia, guturalizando con reverb, y subiéndose a las mesas.

xinon, de 8bitpeoples, nos deleitó con sus técnicas djescas.

quarta330 nos lubricó los cerebros de la gente con su dub.

pepino hicimos cinco temas, cuatro de ellos originales (solo una versión), en un concierto que por ahora es el más pepiniano y rockero que hemos hecho. Nos equivocamos bastante menos que de costumbre, gracias a la atmósfera creada por los amables y amados fans que vinieron a vernos desde España o desde sitios tan lejanos como Tokio. Lo pasamos de puta madre, en serio.

coova nos enseñó lo que el nanoloop puede dar de sí en sus manos.

portalenz (maru y USK), con USK ya casi recuperado de su típico ciego preconciertil, nos ofrecieron su mejor actuación hasta la fecha, con temazos sin parar y mucho movimiento. maru usó sus famosos juguetes hackeados (circuit bending), y USK usó su teclado de pc más hecho polvo contra la Game Boy. Los momentos más catárticos que presenciamos esa noche fueron a cargo de portalenz.

saitone, veterano chiptunero que incluso ha compuesto temas para Konami en Pop’n Music, nos dio una lección bastante teórica a todos, acabando con un tema más bailable que dio paso a la segunda tanda de saludos, intercambio de maquetas, y loleamientos varios, todo ello desembocando en el recogimiento final de los cacharros y nuestra consecuente migración.

¿A dónde fuimos? Os lo cuento la próxima vez. Por ahora os dejo con el podcast de todos los conciertos que hicimos los miembros de tsuji-techno esa noche. Bueno, se me olvidó grabar la primera canción nuestra (como siempre) pero los otros están bastante completitos. Material no recomendado a orejas sensibles, porque algunos japoneses son muy mal hablaos cuando hablan en español.
