Fukae Jinja

As the picture I put on pepinismo instantáneo of my neighborhood’s Shinto shrine work in progress was well received, I went back and took better ones.

Están haciendo nuevo el pabellón principal.

They are rebuilding the main shrine.

And I think they are restoring the building behind it, too.

I guess they will put these stones and statues back when work advances a little more.

Esta es la capilla principal provisional.

The provisional main shrine.

There’s a very nice atmosphere at Fukae Jinja (map) so I hope we can see the completed work soon!

Like I promised in the post about Etsuro Sotoo’s lecture, here’s a post about the Shinto shrine Shikaumi Jinja.

There are some deer statues, and can you guess what’s inside the small building on the left?

¡Más de diez mil cuernos de ciervo!

More than 10,000 deer horns!

This small shrine is dedicated to the mountain god. Worshipping the mountains or nature in general is something I like very much about Shinto. This shrine even has a «Festival for Praising the Mountain», which I would love to see. By the way, what can be that box on the right?

This is a very quiet temple: old wishes written on wood are still here mixed with the new ones. We loved this shrine for it’s use of uncolored wood and straw. It has a very good mood.

Last Saturday I enjoyed a concert of Showa Era music at Shinto temple Kego Jinja‘s summer festival.

I sent these pictures right away to Twitter, and today I’m putting them all together here. The concert was very interesting!

Kego Jinja is in the very center of Fukuoka City, surrounded by lots of department and electronics stores, and boutiques.

There was a free market at the festival too, with two interesting Kamen Rider figures on sale.

And the favourite festival soft drink is of course lamune, the marble soda.

Near the two cool clinics I showed you the other day is the Sakurai Shrine. It has a gate (torii) on the sea.

Note the «sakura» (cherry tree) character used in Sakurai Jinja is the archaic 櫻 instead of the simplified and standard 桜.

It’s a very quiet, beautiful and inspiring place. Definitely one of my favorite temples in Japan.

This shrine has a lot to do with Dazaifu Tenmangu, about which I’ve written a number of times. Here’s the famous cow.

Almost no tourists come here so one can easily relax enjoy the beautiful gardens and buildings.

We’ll be in the main shrine and people coming to see the ceremony can watch from the balcony on the right of this picture.

The kannushi (Shinto priests) and miko (shrine maidens) are very kind to us. I’ll tell you more later about our ceremony.
