No aparques o te quito la matrícula

matrícula prohibido aparcar sin permiso 無断駐車 駐車禁止 ナンバープレート unauthorized parking not permitted number plate

Looks like the good old «no parking without permission» sign, right?

But it also says that if you do park, they will remove and take your number plate and ask you for a parking fee. Scary!

This summer we visited our friends who live in Minato Mirai, a very modern by the sea at Yokohama. This is the building’s entrance, which looks just like a train station. Put your wallet near the sensor and the door will open for you.

It’s a new building and they moved in in February, so this is probably the latest Japanese technology applied to security and ease of use.

So let’s go to the parking now (yes, they still have cars in Yokohama). You can’t go into the parking itself but go to the door and the automatic parking system will take the car out for you.

The robot stores cars in a different place every time, saving energy and time. There are special places for big cars and such.

And this is the ramp where the car comes from. The driver gets in and takes the car away from the parking entrance before his family gets in, because a neighbor might want to take his car out too.

Moto mal aparcada

Seen in front of a konbini, in private properti with enough «no parking» signs.

Prohibido aparcar bicicletas

At Tenjin I spotted this mysterious zone where one can’t even walk but it says «no parking bicycles» all over the place.

When I read the full sign I realized they don’t want you to park your bike at the corridor on the left because it’s an emergency exit. Then why won’t they put all those signs on the corridor walls?

Pantuflas en aparcamiento —

I found this readymade for me: a pair of slippers abandoned at a hourly parking lot. And in a rather dynamic way.
