Hiyashi chuuka 冷やし中華

En verano son muy populares en Japón los fideos chinos fríos, que aquí se llaman hiyashi chuka. Son unos fideos largos hervidos y después enfriados, que se comen con verduras crudas, huevo y fiambre.

夏の日本では冷やし中華が大人気。ゆでてから冷やした麺の上に野菜と卵焼きとハムを乗せる。

Cold Chinese noodles (hiyashi chuuka) are very popular in Japan in summer. The dish consists in cold noodles with vegetables, eggs and ham.

Primero hay que cortar las verduras (esta vez tomate y pepino), el fiambre y las tortillas a la francesa.

最初は野菜（この度、キューリとトマト）とハムと卵焼きを切る。

First you cut the veggies (this time, tomatoes and cucumbers), eggs and ham.

Después se ponen encima de los fideos, se echa por encima una salsa que venden en el supermercado, y a comer.

それから麺の上にかけて、スーパーで買ってきたソースもかける。

Then you put all that on the noodles, along with the sauce you got at the supermarket.

Protesta contra de la pena de muerte 死刑執行に抗議

Esta semana han matado a tres reos de muerte en Japón. Las ejecuciones están aumentando en los últimos años, y yo tenía la impresión de que en Japón la pena de muerte era algo que mucha gente daba por hecho porque «son las reglas» y por eso no se oponían. Me he aliviado al leer esta noticia.

今週、日本で死刑囚が3人殺された。最近死刑執行が増えているけど、僕の印象では多くの日本人の意見は「そういうルールだから」とか「そんなもん」で、反対しないということだった。このニュースを読んでちょっと安心した。

This week, three people who were condemned to death in Japan were killed. Executions have increased these years, and I had an impression that many people in Japan thought that «it’s the rules» and thus didn’t oppose. I felt a little relief reading this piece of news.

Shizuka Kamei además de un político japonés es el líder del Grupo de Diputados por la Abolición de la Pena de Muerte. Estas algunas frases de la protesta que ha dirigido al Ministro de Justicia, con respecto a las ejecuciones de esta semana y la pena de muerte en general.

«Las vidas de tres personas más han sido eliminadas por el poder del estado. ¿Acaso va a ayudar esto a los ciudadanos a ser más felices?»

«Es obvio que [la pena de muerte] no tiene poder de disuasión»

«En el ámbito de la sociedad internacional, este aumento de ejecuciones es anormal. Japón no tiene derecho a abogar por los derechos humanos en la ONU.»

亀井静香氏は政治家であり「死刑廃止を推進する議員連盟」の会長でもある。下記は死刑と今週の死刑執行についての法相宛の抗議の引用。

「新たに３人の命が国家権力に消された。何か国民の幸せにつながっていくものが生まれたのか」

「（死刑制度による）抑止力がないのは明白」

Shizuka Kamei is a Japanese politician and also the leader of the League of Diet Members for Abolishment of Death Penalty. Below are some quotes of the protest he addressed to the Minister of Justice, about this week’s executions and death penalty in general.

Museo Ciudad de Fukuoka 福岡市博物館

Hace poco fuimos al Museo Ciudad de Fukuoka a ver una exposición sobre las culturas inca, maya y azteca.

この間福岡市博物館にインカ、マヤとアステカ文明についての展示を見に行った。

A few days ago, we went to Fukuoka City Museum to see an exhibit about the Inca, Mayan and Aztec civilizations.

No se podían hacer fotos dentro, pero el edificio y el sitio son impresionantes.

中では写真が撮れなかったけど、建物自体とその環境がすごくきれい。

We weren’t able to take pictures inside, but the building itself and its surroundings are impressive.

Probamos por primera vez la Inca Kola. Está muy dulce y tiene mucho gas. No la bebería a diario pero me gustó probarla.

初めてインカ・コーラを飲んだ。とても甘くて炭酸がきつい。毎日飲みたいとは思わないけど、飲んでみてよかった。

Tried Inca Kola for the first time. It’s very sweet and has a lot of gas. I wouldn’t want to drink this every day but it somehow liked it.

Merienda baratera de excursión 遠足のお得なおやつ

El otro día yendo al paro paré en un konbini para comprarme la merienda, y me puse las botas por 188 yenes (poco más de un euro).

この間職安に行ってたら、途中でトライアルに寄って一休みした。コンビニで188円だけ使っていいおやつが食べれた。

The other day heading to the Employment Office I stopped by a konbini for a snack, and was completely satisfied for just 188 yen.

Wiener or Frankfurter?

Temaki-zushi (sushi enrollado a mano) de pollo, huevo y mayonesa. Si os creíais que todo el sushi lleva pescado, estáis tan poco informados como los japoneses que se piensan que todas las paellas llevan gambas. Nada grave, por supuesto. Por cierto, así es como se comen los rollos de sushi que venden «para montar» en los konbini.

鶏と玉子とマヨネーズの手巻き寿司と、日本人の方々皆さんよくご存知のその作り方。

Temakizushi (hand-rolled sushi) with chicken, eggs and mayonnaise. If you believed sushi needed to have fish in it, you’re the same as non-Spanish people who think that every paella has shrimps in it. Yeah, not a big deal. By the way this is how you eat the sushi rolls that are for sale at convenience stores.

CVS parece ser un acrónimo chungo de convenience store, pero a los programadores seguro que os suena de otra cosa. ¿De qué?

Looks like CVS is a lousy acronym for «convenience store», but programmers here might be already familiar with this acronym. For what?

Otaku interrogado dos horas por llevar navaja 折り畳みナイフ携帯で2時間職務質問

El sábado 14, la policía paró un hombre que caminaba por Akihabara pidiéndo le que mostrara el contenido de su mochila. El hombre preguntó que por qué, pero la policía en vez de contestarle metió mano directamente en su mochila. Encontraron una navaja multiuso de unos 5 centímetros, que es legal llevar encima en Japón y de hecho el hombre la llevaba junto con unos alicates por si tenía que arreglar la bici. Pero solo por eso lo interrogaron 10 policías durante dos horas, con 3 coches patrulla rodeando la escena. Uno de los agentes lo tuvo agarrado del cinturón durante todo el interrogatorio, y otros trataron de forma violenta a los viandantes que daban al interrogado consejos correctos sobre sus derechos.

14日の土曜日、秋葉原を歩く男性が職務質問を受けて、「なぜ荷物を見せなければならないのか」と聞いたら急にリュックに手を入れられて5センチぐらいの折り畳みナイフが見つかった。そのナイフの持ち歩きは違反にならないはずだし、男性が自転車の修理をする場合ペンチと一緒に使うつもりでいつも持ち歩いているという。しかしながら2時間ぐらい警官10人とパトカー3台に囲まれた。職務質問の間、警官の1人がずっとベルトをつかんでいたらしいし、男性に正しい助言をした人たちにも警官が暴力を振るっていたらしい。

On Saturday 14th, the police stopped a man who was walking by Akihabara asking to see the contents of his backpack. He asked why he had to show that, but instead of replying the officers put their hands into his bag and found a 5 cm Swiss knife, which by the way is perfectly legal for carrying around. The man carried that and a pair of pliers just in case he had to mend his bike on the go. But 10 policemen were questioning him for 2 hours, surrounding the scene with 3 patrol cars. An officer was holding his belt all the time, and people who would give the man advice about his rights would be treated in a violent fashion by the police.
