Comiendo shabu shabu

Yesterday we had shabu shabu at an MK chain restaurant. It had been long since last time, and it was delicious.

You get to use a cooking pot at your table.

and this time there was some dim sum and other Chinese food.

This is Ai putting her food into the pot while I take more and more pictures.

But at last I cooked and had my food, too. This is me dipping some enoki mushrooms in ponzu, a sauce that contains a lot of vinegar.

And here I am dipping some pork (which plays the main role in shabu shabu) in the spicy sauce. There was a sesame sauce too, but I don’t like it as much.

¿Habéis comido shabu shabu o algo parecido alguna vez?

Have you ever had shabu shabu? We have posted before about the o-nabe (pot) kind of food. Kimchi nabe and radish nabe.

Hiyashi chuuka

Cold Chinese noodles (hiyashi chuuka) are very popular in Japan in summer. The dish consists in cold noodles with vegetables, eggs and ham.

First you cut the veggies (this time, tomatoes and cucumbers), eggs and ham.

Then you put all that on the noodles, along with the sauce you got at the supermarket.

Salteado de verduras y más —

And here we are again with our normal suppers. This time we had takikomi gohan, meaning rice cooked in a way that it comes out mixed with meat, etc. (We bought the stuff to mix at the supermarket.)

But the main dish was some veggies and wieners all cooked together on a frying pan. And we had some tofu with soy sauce and katsuobushi too. Katsuobushi is shavings from dried, smoked tuna.

Salmón y salteado de verduras — 鮭と野菜炒め — Salmon and fried vegetables

Yesterday we had salmon and fried vegetables for supper. Very good for health!

Siempre usamos mucha verduras. Son para dos personas.

We always use too much vegetables. All of this is for the two of us.

Col, cebolla, brotes de soja, y bacon. Faltaba más color.

Cabbage, onion, soy bean sprouts and bacon. A little more of color would have been great.

We usually schedule our Sundays by the Spanish timetable, but yesterday we had supper at a normal time for Japan (altough I had taken a siesta).

¡Estaba bueno!

Yummy!
