Muchos de nuestros lectores tienen una arrocera (suihanki) o saben perfectamente cómo funcionan estas máquinas. Pero no es nada trivial para la gente que no lo ha visto hacer nunca así que lo voy a explicar paso a paso, con fotos.
読者の中に、炊飯器を持っているか使い方分かる人が多いと思うけど、実際見たことない人にとってはかなり不思議な機械だと思うので、じっくり写真で説明しようと思った。
Many of our readers own a rice cooker or know how they work, but I think it’s still a mysterious machine for some people so I’m explaining it step by step and with pictures.

Se pone una cantidad de arroz, por ejemplo dos vasitos. El vasito de medir viene con la arrocera cuando la compras.
ご飯のはっきりした量を入れる。例えば、2合。それをはかるコップは炊飯器を買う時についてる。
Put an amount of rice into the bowl, for instance two cups. This measuring cup comes with the rice cooker when you buy it.
Se mete agua en el cacharro y se lava el arroz.
水を入れてお米を洗う。
Pour some water in the bowl and wash the rice.
Lo que quiere decir que se remueve hasta que el agua salga blanca.
ということは、水が白くなるまで混ぜる。
What means, move it around until the water comes out white.
Después de cambiar el agua y remover un par de veces se pone agua limpia hasta la rayita que corresponda en la escala para arroz normal (白米/無洗米) a la cantidad de vasitos de arroz que pusiste al principio.
2回ぐらい水を交換したて洗ったら、きれいな水をお米の量にふさわしい線まで入れる (白米/無洗米)。
Then change the water and move again twice or so, and the water shouldn’t come out as white. Then throw out all the water and pour clean water until it reaches the line for the amount of cups of rice you put in in the beginning. In the regular rice scale, of course (白米/無洗米).
Se mete la palangana en la máquina.
器を炊飯器に入れる。
Put the bowl into the rice cooker.
Se toca el botón de cocer (炊飯, suihan) y a esperar a que se encienda otra luz, suene un ruido o lo que sea.
「炊飯」ボタンを押して待つ。終わったらライトが光ったり音が鳴ったりする。
Push the «cook» button (炊飯, suihan) and wait until a light turns on or you hear a sound.
Suele tardar menos de una hora y cuando acaba tiene esta pinta.
1時間近くかかるけど、終わったらこんな感じになっているはず。
It usually takes less than 1 hour, and it looks like this when it’s just finished.
En este momento se remueve el arroz, y si hay tiempo antes de comer se vuelve a tapar y se deja reposar un poquito más. Sale un arroz buenísimo, probablemente mejor que el que podrías hacer con una olla.
開けたら少し混ぜる。食べるまでちょっと時間があったら、ふたを閉める。炊飯器で炊いたご飯は多分、普通の人がお鍋で炊いたご飯より美味しいと思う。
The moment you open it move it around a little, and then close it again if you’re not eating yet. Rice cooked this way is delicious, probably better than rice you’d cook in a regular pot.
